Today I had the privilege of visiting Ocean Village to connect with residents and business owners.
During my time here, I had the opportunity to engage in conversations, and two important themes stood out: ensuring your safety by keeping the street lights on and increasing the presence of police officers on our streets. Your feedback is invaluable, and I want to express my gratitude to those who took the time to share your experiences with me today.
Now, let's talk about one of my key priorities: tackling crime and security in our community. I'm sure many of you are aware of the issues we've been facing with the Labour council's decision to turn off street lights. This has unfortunately resulted in increased crime and a heightened sense of vulnerability among members of the public. I'm committed to changing that.
My mission is to ensure your safety and prioritise the well-being of the community. As I continue to traverse the city, I urge you to reach out and connect with me. If you spot me on your doorstep or around town, please don't hesitate to say hello. Your input is crucial to me, as it helps me understand your unique concerns and challenges.
Thank you and I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to meet you in the coming weeks and months.
Lastly, if you have ever been a victim of any form of crime, whether it's theft, burglary, or anything else, I want to extend a sincere invitation. Please get in touch with my office, as your story matters and I am committed to working towards solutions that address your needs.
Once again, thank you for all the time, trust, and willingness to engage. Together, we can create a safer community for all.
“Hi. I’m Sidney Yankson the Parliamentary Candidate for Southampton Itchen. I’m here on a beautiful sunny day in central Southampton, to highlight one of my key priorities, which is tackling crime and keeping people safe. This morning I’ve heard from a resident who had her car stolen from on her drive. She reported it to the police, but the file was closed within about ten minutes, which we think is wrong, and more must be done to protect property and protect the people of Southampton.
Please do get in touch with my office if you have any crimes to report and you have reported them to the police. My role is to work for you and I have to serve you. I look forward to meeting you on the campaign trail. Many thanks.”
Please get in touch with my office.
