Today I listened to residents in both Sholing and Woolston. The major topic on the doorstep was the failing Labour council and the fact that the roads are in a shocking state.
A number of residents had suffered damage to their cars due to the state of the roads. This is unacceptable. There is a cost of living crisis at the moment. Paying money for something and getting nothing back, is almost criminal. Residents are paying council tax. As part of that money, the council has a duty to maintain roads. Roads must be kept to an acceptable standard. The fact that many residents have had damaged caused to their cars axles due to the poor states of the roads, and then have to pay to have the cars repaired, doesn't seem fair to me. In fact, it means residents are paying twice. Once for their council tax and again to repair the car. Does that seem fair?
If you have had damage to your vehicle caused by potholes or other damage on the road surface, please get in touch with my office.
