This evening I outlined my vision for a diverse, inclusive, vibrant city at the hustings in Southampton. I answered questions on many subjects including jobs for young people, Gaza, abortion and keeping people safe in the city.
My key message echoes the letter to the editor published in the Daily Echo only a few days ago. Southampton is a great city. It has been neglected by poor financial management by the Labour run council for years. My ambition is to take the city back to where it should be. A major port city with investment and opportunity for all.
Currently the port exports to 70 countries around the world and is a designated free port. I would like to use my skills to help galvanise and embrace the links that Southampton already has around the world. The world is on the doorstep.
My vision for Southampton includes:
- a waterfront that residents can enjoy on a sunny afternoon,
- remove the rubbish dump and cement plants from the waterfront,
- fix the potholes, and
- tackle crime.
Simple ideas. Huge benefits for us all.
if you have any ideas that you think could improve the city, please get in touch with my office.
