“Hi I’m Sidney Yankson the Parliamentary Candidate for Southampton Itchen. We have just had the result announced here at the City Hall - O2 Guildhall - in Southampton. I was runner up to the Labour candidate.
I just want to say three things - thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thank you first of all to Royston Smith. The outgoing MP for all of his help and guidance over the last few months of this campaign.
I also want to thank all of the local team and the local activists who have been on the doorstep helping me speak to and meet with local residents.
Finally, I want to thank all of the thousands and thousands of residents of this great and brilliant city who voted for me in today’s election. Absolutely amazing to have worked with you and to have listened to you, and sadly on this occasion not to have served you.
I want to thank you all and I look forward to meeting you again on the campaign trail.
