I listened to residents in Sholing, who told me about a dangerous road junction at the intersection of High Firs Road and North East Road.
"Good morning. My name is Sidney Yankson. I’m the parliamentary candidate for Southampton Itchen and I’m here at the junction of High Firs Road and North East Road to identify and highlight a particular issue in terms of traffic and road safety, that has been represented to me by residents this morning.
At this junction there have been three accidents. Two cars have actually overturned and a cyclist has actually been flung over the road and hit one of the residents vehicles. I would like to call upon the Labour run council, to take action at this junction. Either make it double yellow lines to prevent cars from parking on North East Road and creating a blind spot, or take action to widen the junction to make sure it’s safer for all. Please do come and keep on talking to me on the streets if you see me. I’m keen to listen to residents and actually represent you and make sure that your voices are heard. Thank you very much and I look forward to meeting you."
If you identify any other road traffic issues or dangerous junctions, please do let me know.
