Today I visited the Harbour Hotel to meet with the general manager, Paul Bayliss. Hospitality is a key part of our local economy, here in Southampton. Creating high quality jobs for young people and therefore providing taxes to fund our public services are my core values. I listened to how the hotel sector welcomes visitors to Southampton and can create hundreds of high quality jobs in catering, operations and management.
“Hello. I’m Sidney Yankson the parliamentary candidate for Southampton Itchen. As you can see we have a beautiful day here at the Harbour Hotel. Lots of local businesses and lots of local business people have come up to us today to say that they are really happy with what we’re doing in terms of supporting local businesses.
As I’ve said on previous videos, apprenticeships and jobs for young people are absolutely paramount and are in my top priorities. If you look over my shoulder you can see over the Itchen bridge and some of the renovation work that has been going on the properties here. House building and properties is another key cornerstone of how I can support this city and young people when they leave university, and they can come and get jobs here.
Thank you very much for all the people who have come up to me today and over the last few weeks and months, and I look forward to working for you as your MP. Many thanks.”
If you own a business or are interested in apprenticeships, I would like to hear from you.
Please get in touch with my office.
